Social Media Campaign

During my social media campaign on twitter I learned a lot of information about the bushmeat trade and the fight against it. When I focused in on the problem of the bushmeat trade I did not know that there was so many factors involved within the problem including logging, the lack of an alternative food source, and the booming business being the reason why it has been so hard to ban. Throughout my twitter surfing I learned valuable information about chimpanzees and there social intelligence.

My first favorite tweet is of this chimpanzee being able     My second tweet of the quarter consists of me explaining the to use Instagram like a human.                                            the Big 3 article I chose and why it is important.

Organizations

For my social media campaign, I went into depth about the problems, solutions, organizations, and made an infographic about the bushmeat trade. while I was planning the social media campaign I wanted to keep it simple and do everything in order day by day and not mix it up. The two organizations that I advocated for were the Ape Alliance, and The World Wildlife Fund. The Ape Alliance has been fighting against the bushmeat trade since 1998 and they have several campaigns on there website.  The world Wildlife Fund is a bigger organization supporting all animal trade including the bushmeat trade. My first tweet about the organization involved sending a link to to the ape alliance's link to a video of Jane Goodall explaining the effects of bushmeat trade. My second tweet was about the world wildlife fund and it came with a link to their donation page to fight the bushmeat trade.

Problems

For my problems section of the SMC I learned important information about why the bushmeat trade specifically impacts the chimpanzee population in the worst way. My first tweet is about how the bushmeat trade contributes to the declining population of chimpanzee's due to chimpanzee mother's being able to give birth once in every 5 years. The other problem I learned about the bushmeat trade was that human lives are also affected by it due to the transmission of diseases. The second image links an article going into depth about the effects of the bushmeat trade on the human population.

Solutions

For my solutions I learned about how the governments in Africa are attempting to combat the bushmeat trade through enforcing regulations and bans all over. They also explore options into being able to feed the people with alternative food and applying zoning laws as well. My first tweet goes into how governments locate which areas are consuming bushmeat the most and reallocating alternatives to those people. My second tweet goes into how an article mentions how there could be a permanent ban on the bushmeat trade coming soon.

Infographic

In my infographic I decided to focus on the problems of the bushmeat trade and I had a specific intention to emphasize the effects and corruption within the trade. Here is a picture of the Infographic and a link to my Day by Day plan for the SMC.
