Peer Review Blog Review

The first peer review I did was about gorilla's cognitive abilities and their threat to poaching. My first impression was that it was written pretty clearly and had a good structure to it the first time I read through it. The essay all had a lot of citations and there were citations in each paragraph which I thought was well done. Most of the advice I gave was related to transitioning into the next phase of the essay smoother and connecting the literature review with the ap. The author had a lot of good evidence proving gorilla's cognitive abilities but I gave her advice to hint towards the problem to connect that evidence towards the problem section. I believe that this was my best advice that I gave.

The second peer review that I completed was about orangutans intelligence and the palm oil industry affecting their populations. The first thing I noticed in the essay was that there was no title, so i recommended a title for her to start with. Although there was no title, I thought the essay was very interesting and informative concerning the palm oil industry. I recommended some clearer questions towards the audience and some organizational adjustments throughout the essay. Overall, the author also had many citations throughout the whole essay and did a good job using them similar to the paper I peer reviewed.

Looking back at my peer review that I have done since the beginning of class, I definitely feel like it benefited towards my overall learning throughout the course. It was nice to review other's work and compare it to my own. Sometimes I would remember people offering me great advice on how to improve my writing and I agreed with their opinion. I thought it was valuable in my revision process as well as it helped me revise my essay and make it smoother.

Reflecting on peer review I believe it is a very useful process. I think it helps to see the thought process of your peers and compare it to your own work. I also believe giving advice helps me improve my own literature. I feel like it could be true that giving advice can be more effective than receiving it because sometimes you may not agree with the peer reviewer. I learned the value of it though as it helped expand my writing process.

Here is the best advice I thought I gave.
