I believe that this writing class has helped me grow as a writer and user of technology. My first example of my learning is being able to navigate the wix site much easier. At the start of the quarter I would have a difficult time organizing and using the website since I haven't used it before. For future projects I will be able to create a website much easier. I also learned how to spread information on social media and use it as a tool to fight for important causes. As I remember how I was before this class, I realized that I would have never thought of using social media or creating a website to advocate for a cause.
I think the other way I have experienced transformative learning is in the way that I read through articles and annotate them. Looking back to the annotation assignments, it helped me become better at analyzing and attaining the correct information to put into my advocacy essay. I also think using Academic search complete and other search engines was a valuable experience as I was pretty much used to searching everything on google. Learning what articles are credible and unbiased is knowledge I believe will stick with me for the rest of my future after this class, whether it is about animals or any other issues in our world today.
One of the areas I had a problem with was issues with time on certain assignments. I would procrastinate and I don't enjoy the process of procrastination so that it definitely one thing I need to work on in the future. The way I can work on this is starting to do my homework assignments in advance until it becomes a habit. I estimate that I would need to do this for about a month for it become a habit, so it is definitely achievable if I can dedicate to improving my time management skills.
Another one of the areas I think I can do better on is writing. I am not saying that I am not a good writer, but I would like to become excellent at it because it might be something that I may need to do in future careers. I believe with more practice and effort I can become a great writer one day because I think it is a great skill to have to be able to write down what you are thinking. I think I need to work on organization and making my thoughts clear, along with some sentence structure. If I can improve on these aspects along with improving the flow of my essays I think I can improve even more as a writer.
