During weeks 1 through 5 I found some things that helped me draft my literature review. The first building block that helped me would be the connect assignments where we practiced annotating various articles. This helped me because while I was searching for studies for my Big 3 I was able to skim the article and get the main point out of an article quickly. The second building block would be using the UC Library and google scholar. I found a lot of credible sources using these search engines and it was fun to experiment with it. Another building block that helped me write my literature review was reading Carl Safina's Beyond Words: What Animals Think and Feel. While I read and annotated the book I found some quotable excerpts and really enjoyed reading the book. the information and stories in the book made it fun and easier for me to write the literature review.
I am fairly confident my literature review covered all of the minimum requirements. I believe my purpose was well stated and clear. I also thought my thesis was pretty good as well. Something I could have organized better was my development of my essay. In the essay I connected all the Big 3 in one paragraph and summarized them in 3 separate paragraphs so I am not sure if I did it the right way or not but we will see. Overall I think I wrote a solid essay.
For the social media campaign I think I want to advocate against bushmeat trading. I know that it is the illegal hunting of non-game animals including chimpanzees in Africa and sold as food to eat. Ape Action Africa has some good information on the illegal trade, and I learned of it from on of Jane Goodall's TED Talks.
